چکیده

We present the results from our deep (16 12 hr) Westerbork Synthesis Radio Telescope (WSRT) observations of the approximately 7 deg2 Bootes Deep Field, centered at 14h32m05 975, 34 16047>5 (J2000.0). Our survey consists of 42 discrete pointings, with enough overlap to ensure a uniform sensitivity across the entire field, with a limiting sensitivity of 28 lJy (1 rms). The catalog contains 3172 distinct sources, of which 316 are resolved by the 130

Exploring weak magnetic fields with LOFAR and SKA

Regular magnetic field structures can be derived from the Faraday rotation measures (RM) of polarized background sources observable at 1.4 GHz with the SKA. At lower frequencies (< 250MHz) polarimetry of radio sources with the Low Frequency Array (LOFAR) will allow the investigation of extremely small RM, to detect and map weak regular fields in halos and outer parts of spiral galaxies, and in ...

Letter to the Editor WSRT observations of the Hubble Deep Field region

We present deep WSRT 1.4 GHz observations of the Hubble Deep Field region. At the 5σ level, the WSRT clearly detects 85 regions of radio emission in a 10′ ×10′ field centred on the HDF. Eight of these regions fall within the HDF itself, four of these are sources that have not previously been detected at 1.4 GHz, although two of these are VLA detections at 8.5 GHz. The two new radio sources dete...

RADIO OBSERVATIONS OF THE HUBBLE DEEP FIELD–SOUTH REGION. II. THE 1.4 GHz CATALOG AND SOURCE COUNTS

This paper is part of a series describing the results from the Australia Telescope Hubble Deep Field–South (ATHDFS) survey obtained with the Australia Telescope Compact Array. This survey consists of observations at 1.4, 2.5, 5.2, and 8.7 GHz, all centered on the Hubble Deep Field–South. Here we present the first results from the extended observing campaign at 1.4 GHz. A total of 466 sources ha...

On the Discovery of the First 350 Micron-selected Galaxy

We report the detection of a 3.6σ 350μm-selected source in the Boötes Deep Field. The source, the first Shortwavelength Submillimeter-selected Galaxy (SSG 1), was discovered as part of a blank field extragalactic survey using the 350μm-optimised Submillimeter High Angular Resolution Camera (SHARC II) at the Caltech Submillimeter Observatory. With multiwavelength photometry from NOAO-NDWFS (R an...
